On Facebook ..

A lot of im goes on ..

Thatapos;s good I guess

I just got "friended" by two "frenemies" from middle school (that is, two people who were mean or untrustworthy @ times, but we talked/hung out/whatever, or functioned as friends sometimes. I donapos;t really recommend having those kinds of relationships if one can help it, but @ certain (work, school, etc) the only way to avoid it is just plain not to associate w/those people if you can help it. If you can help it .. And if not you have a frenemy .. Anyway, I accepted their friend requests .. With any luck, they wonapos;t be writing to me, very often .. Itapos;s weird to see how many of my K-8th grade mates (I moved away, in the 9th grade), are still writing to each other ..

"Fake Friends," by Joan Jett is (just coincidentally, mind you) playing on Pandora.com as (as this is being written .. )

And (on another story), I (really shyly, mind you), just sent out some friend requests, to some 1990-ish friends from college .. I mean , if accepting friend requests from people who I really donapos;t want to see, then might as well write to those I do ..

Two of apos;em accepted, immediately.

And, so many of the people that I know, have grown up to realize their dreams, or @ least to become good and interesting people.

Lots of beautiful people in our generation too ;)

There are people thatI know have traveled the world, become artists(in whatever fields that they felt like doing, at the time)..

So many that Iapos;ve known, thatapos;ve been through Hell; thatapos;ve become incredible.

Could I have been one of these people ..?

no, I think that by trying any harder, I wouldapos;ve died.

but I survived.

Anyway, (Loving Your Fierce Intensity, if only from a distance,

So I finally got through an entire day of fasting.
First time I have gone a whole without eating.
(I did have half of a tortilla chip, but I donapos;t think it really counts.)

Now I have to make it through tomorrow.
Itapos;s going to be hard since I have this cooking class every Tuesday.
Help?

I think I might try tobuild up my courage and weigh myself tomorrow, or within the next two days.
I havenapos;t weighed myself since the beginning of September, it was on a scale that didnapos;t work well too.
Iapos;ve always been afraid to go to the scale. I guess it may motivate me more though.

10 minutes solid of what sounded like a huge faucet opening over our entire building Iapos;m glad Iapos;m not driving today, and also glad I didnapos;t give myself too much grief over not watering the back yard planters last night

Weekend was good. Went to see Max Payne on Friday night after getting stuck in a huge traffic jam. Saturday was grocery shopping and my Uncleapos;s birthday.

Sunday was laundry and vegetating. I did however cook a good meal that will last me for 3-5 servings Two kinds of Ravioli (3 cheese and beef), pumped up tomato sauce (Tomato Basil base, with garlic diced canned tomatoes, a mini-can of sliced olives, a dash of basil olive oil and diced garlic), and two entire bags of frozen veggies (one winter mix and one chopped broccoli). It was delish and will last me several meals and prevent me from procrastinating and eating out instead

Of late Iapos;ve been finishing my work and getting in a little bit of video game time, again. I picked up Disgaea 3 and Dead Space to play alternatively. Iapos;m a big fan of the first Disgaea game, and am looking forward to playing Etna Mode on my PSP in the future. I find I like these games because they require some level of writing to go into their creation. Itapos;s the story that makes you want to advance the levels and chapters and see what happens next. Disgea made me want to spend hours leveling so I could advance the story and see what happened to all those interesting characters. I purchased Disgaea 3, but was told that Disgaea 2 wasnapos;t nearly as compelling, so I simply read a plot synopsis so I wouldnapos;t be left behind.

Disgaea 3 seems interesting so far, and itapos;s packed full of characteristic cuteness and Nippon Ichiapos;s typical sense of humor. One of the things that surprised me was the re-use of all the old original sprites from the first Disgaea, along with new sprites that are of the same resolution as the old sprites. It tends to make them stand out against the more detailed backgrounds a good bit. I suppose it would have been really nice to see some higher resolution sprites, with greater, more beautifully rendered character details. This game is for the PS3 after all. But thatapos;s sort of a small thing when stacked against everything else about the game. I like a game like this, where I can think things out, and get up and get a sandwich and come back and keep thinking. Itapos;s a game about strategy and having fun, instead of a game about being able to react really quickly to something, or move a character along super tight obstacle tolerances to avoid dying.

Dead Space is kind of a mixed bag. When I started playing it, I wondered to myself: "How long can the video game industry keep dredging up the humans-mutated-by-aliens-turning-them-vicious-and-evil theme?" I feel this is not a spoiler to say, due to the previews, and the fact that itapos;s just another mutation of the same rehashed story in many other games. Iapos;m only in chapter 3 at the moment, and Iapos;m waiting to somehow find out that the crew was sent to their deaths by an evil corporate interest, or a greedy government biowarfare division. Predictable? Yes. If Iapos;m wrong, Iapos;ll be pleasantly surprised, but not by much. Itapos;s a fun game. I like running around creepy settings and shooting monsters, but thatapos;s all it is. The only unique features of the game include greater attention to things like shot placement and some zero-g environments. Iapos;m no longer impressed with the graphics, or the glimpses of scurrying hostile creatures accompanied by the typical horror movie "violin shriek" as soon as a bulkhead door opens. Iapos;ll compare it to two other FPS/TPS shooters:

Gears of War was a game that was created when some developers got a wild idea to make a game with new mechanics. They played paintball as a hobby and wondered why, in all other FPS/TPS games, you couldnapos;t use cover the way human beings in every war since the invention of the gun used cover. It was a very appealing idea to have the ability to run hard, take cover, shoot blind, and everything that regular soldiers do in battle, in a visually appealing, action packed game. They had an idea about game mechanics, and they built a game around it. The plot, theme, and even the hero of the story is nothing original at all. Itapos;s just another lame plot dredged up as an excuse to have humans battling ugly, ferocious looking aliens who snarl and gnash and all that jazz. But the mechanics made it stand out and made it fun for me. Bioshock was the opposite. It was a game that started as a theme and a story idea, and had ordinary game mechanics built around it. The game mechanics werenapos;t anything special. It was just another FPS with different explanations for powers and monsters. What sold it was the new kind of setting and a story that was deeper and more thoughtful than your typical game. Even if it was a clumsy, inaccurate repudiation attempt aimed at Objectivism, it was still an interesting gaming experience. So you have an example of a game that works because it has unique, new mechanics, but unoriginal plot. And a game that has a neat original plot, but no new mechanics. Both are fun games.

Dead Space has neither. Iapos;m not taking away from it. Itapos;s fun for what it is. If you like skulking through dark corridors ready to shoot beastly things that can pop out any minute, thatapos;s great. I like that sometimes too. But the game is nothing special.

I heard it from somebody on TV and I know he was an important guy.We no longer refer to people at the bottom of the economy scale as "poor", they are now "fiscally distressed." I actually like the sound of that. I am fiscally distressed and have made some significant changes in my lifestyle. It hasnapos;t been easy, but Iapos;ve been feeling more in control and somewhat proudof my sacrifices. Instead of getting a once-a-month luxurious pedicure, I simply neglect my feet. Sure I put lotion on them (when I shower--Iapos;m also trying to save water). Expensive facial washes, skin nectars, and wrinkle rectifiers?Bah . . . Soap and water and whatever moisturizer I can squeeze out of the little packets that Iapos;ve collected over the years will do.Hair conditioner? I do what my mother used to do. We used liquid fabric softener. "Itapos;s the same stuff" she would say and we believed her (she wasnapos;t Jewish but that sounds so Jewish to me). Manicures are a thing of the past--I now simply bitemy nails down as I watch Wheel of Fortune (itapos;s multi-tasking). Iapos;m saving tons of moneyBut I know Iapos;m paying for all of this with a different price. My skin seems to be suffering. Itapos;s getting just a tiny bit more wrinkled each month. My hands are looking like my motherapos;s and grandmotherapos;s.I canapos;t look at my own very long. My neck seems to be made of luxurious but very thin fabric and it kinds of looks like a drape . . . But a really, reallynice drape. So, I canapos;t tell you howcomforting it is to know that this is the economyapos;s fault and no indication that I am actually aging at any rate at all. Iapos;m not getting old, the stock market and the price of groceries and gas combinedwith my undyingdedication to claw my way up the fiscal food chain are adding laugh lines to myfaceand making the veins on my hands more noticeable. Oh, and itapos;smy birthday tomorrow

advc300 manual

Dear journal,
Today I thought I was off to a bad day because of my bus driver. But, when I got to school my mood lightened because I got a blue card. A blue card means that my gpa is between a 3.5 - 3.75. I mean that is pretty inpressive for a 7th grader. I have recently become a better student since my switch form privite to public. I think public school has a better learning police. I have made such progress this year and it has only been about 6.2 weeks. Well, got to head to bed I have to get up earlier tomorrow because I might go to breakfast with my lovable dorky cooky wacky (did I minchine loveable?) daddy. Talk to you later.

Sincerly,
Grandmas girl01
